VISUAL STORYTELLING

Visually driven stories have the power to transform.

The role of the documentarian is an important one. Through a wide array of tools, we have the ability to observe, represent, and then retell a story in a way that is creative in form while speaking truth at its core.
I’ve been making documentary films, ranging from the personal to the professional, for over 20 years. My current focus is on short personal biographies and multimedia presentations.

#venticinque: we are 25

I am currently working on long-term project that will be launched as an interactive documentary website. Multimedia in form, this documentary examines the unusual and enigmatic “Twenty-Five” name as a way to learn about history, immigration, culture, and the things humans have in common despite their differences. It’s a fantastic project based in collaboration with people all over the world, and I invite you to explore the project website.

antonella

Created in Turin in the summer of 2019, Antonella is an intimate personal portrait of a singular woman. This tender and haunting multimedia project offers a glimpse beyond the surface and into the private world of a woman of rare strength and character.

personal stories, life histories

Personal biographies are perhaps the most important and fulfilling work I’ve ever done. A skillfully edited combination of photos, oral accounts of the past, and on-camera interviews has the power to honor someone’s life and immortalize their memory. Click below to see a small section of a longer, in-depth life history film I created about an unforgettable woman, Rosa Romano.
